PRESS RELEASE: Cleantech Innovate 2019 announces partnership with London Waste and Recycling Board

  • LWARB will be Showcase Sponsor at cleantech investment event
  • Annual showcase connects most promising environmental technologies with investors
  • Cleantech Innovate to take place on 30th April at Royal Horticultural Halls in London

The London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB) will be the Showcase Sponsor at Cleantech Innovate 2019, a showcase for environmental technologies taking place on 30th April at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London, it has been announced today.

LWARB works in conjunction with the Mayor of London and London Councils to improve waste and resource management in the capital. The city’s economic and environmental future depends on transitioning to a low-carbon circular economy, and LWARB works to ensure that London’s businesses, local government and communities thrive by helping them make the very best use of resources and materials.

Cleantech Innovate 2019 aims to connect the most promising environmental technologies that will accelerate results for a more sustainable future with impact investors looking for both a good return and a measurable and beneficial environmental impact. A range of shortlisted entrepreneurs will pitch their technologies to a room full of investors in a series of themed sessions covering energy, food, transport, water, waste, and shelter.

LWARB will be showcasing their ‘Circular London Accelerator’, which supports circular economy innovators. The first cohort is currently focused on the built environment and the innovative startups involved will make five-minute pitches to investors in the Solutions Garden.

The event will also feature workshops designed to support cleantech entrepreneurs looking to grow their business and will close with the presentation of the ‘Game-Changer Prize’, which will recognise the technology with the greatest potential to have a revolutionary impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and/or improving resource use worldwide.

Wayne Hubbard, Chief Executive of LWARB, said:

“To ensure London thrives now and in the future, it is vital that we accelerate a low-carbon, circular-economy approach to the way we live and do business. LWARB recognises that innovation is key to achieving this, and that SMEs are a driving force for change. We are therefore proud to sponsor Cleantech Innovate 2019, which showcases a range of exciting entrepreneurs, many of which are London-based. Our Circular London Accelerator cohort will be exhibiting on the day, and we were proud to see Rapiere shortlisted as a finalist.

Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive of We Are Orchard, who are organising Cleantech Innovate 2019, said:

“Cleantech Innovate shares LWARB’s goal of improving resource management and we believe there are huge opportunities to do so through supporting the UK’s most ground-breaking and exciting innovators.

“We’re delighted to have LWARB as a partner for the event and we look forward to seeing how some of the most innovative, game-changing technologies from across the world can support London and the rest of the UK in moving to a greener, more circular economy.”
